Andrew Norwood / Reserch Vice President, Gartner
Andrew Norwood is a research vice president with the semiconductor industry team. He follows the DRAM market.
Before joining Gartner Dataquest, Mr. Norwood was assistant European marketing manager for memory devices at Hyundai Electronics. Mr. Norwood also worked for Gartner Dataquest as an analyst in the semiconductor group with responsibility for the EDP segment. Mr. Norwood holds a Bachelor of Science degree, with honors, in computer science from Brunel University in London.

John Barber, Research Director, Gartner
John Barber is a research director with the semiconductor industry team . Mr. Barber is responsible for market analysis and forecast tracking for system-on-a-chip (SOC), system-level integration (SLI), and application specific standard products (ASSP).
Before joining Gartner Dataquest, Mr. Barber was product manager for NEC Electronics where he was responsible for product development and promotion of ASSPs targeting the digital consumer set top box, DVD recorder, and audio/video for PC markets. Mr. Barber has served as a member on the board of directors and marketing working group chairman for the 1394 Trade Association. Mr. Barber has more than 10 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, working for Applied Materials, Cisco Systems, and NEC Electronics.
Mr. Barber holds a bachelors degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and has started work towards an MBA at San Jose State University.

The Outlook of Worldwide Semiconductor Packaging Industry
Tom Yu , Principal Research Analyst, Gartner
Tom Yu is a principal research analyst with the semiconductor manufacturing team. Based in Shanghai, Mr. Yu is involved with a number of research areas in China, including the fabless and test and packaging markets.
Before joining Gartner Dataquest, Mr. Yu worked as a market analyst and senior analyst at SMIC in Shanghai. Before that, he worked with Legend Group. Mr. Yu received a master of science degree in management from the National University of Singapore and a bachelor’s degree in management of electronic archiving systems from Renmin University of China.

IC Design: The Primary Competitive Advantage
Gary Smith , Managing Vice President, Gartner
Gary Smith is a managing vice president responsible for Gartner Dataquest’s design and engineering research. His team covers system-level design software tools used to design chips, embedded software tools, RTOS and MEMS design software, PC board and semiconductor test software, and mechanical and architectural CAD.
Before joining Gartner Dataquest, Mr. Smith was a consultant in design methodology. Before that, he specialized in the ASIC end of the semiconductor business. While at LSI Logic, Mr. Smith was involved in the development of the RT-level design methodology. Starting in the semiconductor industry, Mr. Smith was involved in some of the first attempts at customer-designed ICs.
Mr. Smith earned his Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland. He is a current member of the Design TWG for the International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors.

Asia Pacific's Impact on the Semiconductor Industry
Ben Lee, Principal Research Analyst, Gartner
Ben Lee is a principal research analyst with the Asia/Pacific semiconductor team. Based in Taiwan, Mr. Lee focuses on the Taiwan semiconductor industry. He is also involved in Asia/Pacific data processing electronic equipment market research.
Before joining Gartner Dataquest, Mr. Lee was marketing manager of sales at Clevo Computer. He was responsible for creating and promoting the distribution channel for the company's notebook computers worldwide and for defining the marketing strategy for different market segments. Mr. Lee began his career with Market Intelligence Center and Institute of Information Industry (public sector) in Taiwan as an industry analyst and project manager.
Mr. Lee has a bachelor of management science degree and an M.B.A. degree from National Chiao-Tung University, Taiwan. He majored in industry analysis, management information systems and economics.
Jamie Wang, Principal Research Analyst, Gartner
Jamie Wang is a principal research analyst with the semiconductor team in Asia/Pacific . Based in Taiwan, Ms. Wang focuses on the Asia/Pacific ECM industry and Taiwan's semiconductor industry. She is also involved in Asia/Pacific fab database research and semiconductor device market share research.
Before joining Gartner Dataquest, Ms. Wang worked as a product sales marketing deputy manager at Clevo, a PC contract manufacturer in Taipei, Taiwan.
Ms. Wang holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Shihchien University of Taipei.
